Knives Tea was formed in early august 2011, when Kiki (drums and percussions), Duviel (synths) and Efren (bass guitars) decided to set up this project according to their influences in common. Few days after they recruited Omar (guitars) and began songwriting their first pieces. As the project progressed they felt the need to add one more member to the band, materialized in David (vocals and guitars). At mid-september they already had a repertory of songs, of which were selected 5 songs to record their first EP, produced by Diego Ruelas. The recording and mixing process began in late october, ending in early december, which this month has marked the band’s official debut.

The band’s songs have cold lyrics talking about everyday life, with music that could be described like “dirty and elegant”. Knives Tea continues to prove that music pulverizes barriers between generations, in the sense that the members of the band were born in 3 different decades, different times, but still their influences merge quite naturally.

Knives Tea se forma a principios de agosto de 2011, cuando Kiki (batería y percusiones), Duviel (sintetizadores) y Efrén (bajos) deciden armar algo de acuerdo a sus gustos en común. A los pocos días reclutan a Omar (guitarras) y comienzan a componer lo que fueron las primeras canciones de la banda. Conforme el proyecto avanzó sintieron la necesidad de agregar un quinto y último miembro, materializado en David (voz y guitarras). Para mediados de septiembre ya contaban con un repertorio de canciones, del cual seleccionaron 5 para grabar su primer EP, bajo la producción de Diego Ruelas. El proceso de grabación y mezcla comenzó a finales de octubre, finalizando los primeros días de diciembre, por lo que este mes ha marcado el debut oficial de la agrupación.

Las composiciones de la banda poseen letras de corte frío y hablan sobre temas crudos de la vida cotidiana, con música que se podría definir como “sucia y elegante”. La propuesta de Knives Tea sigue probando el hecho de que la música pulveriza las barreras entre generaciones, en el sentido de que los miembros de la banda nacieron en 3 diferentes décadas, diferentes tiempos, pero aún así sus gustos musicales se fusionan con gran naturalidad.
