This second installment in the S3CR3T SØCI3TY series continues Owlcave Records' exploration of dark spectrum styles. While focusing on hard edged industrial and the atmospheric, occult elements of witch house, S3CR3T SØCI3TY Volume 2 ventures into coldwave, haunted garage, breakcore, and power electronics.
Although most of the contributing artists are from the midwest United States, this release also features artists from Mexico, the UK, and Italy. With the strength of the online community we have been able to ignore geographical boundaries and unite under the same banner, sharing a love for the darker styles of music and expression.
By utilizing the tools made available through the internet, we have cast aside the need for established, conventional record labels to get international distribution of our music. Those very same labels who have exploited artists for profit time and time, again. This one is for the industry... a massive, FREE compilation of the best underground music from the darkest corners of the world!
Owlcave Records is an independent label and artist collective devoted to dark spectrum music and newbreed styles. We promote pioneering underground artists via digital, tape, and CDR releases, book performances through our associated † BL▲CK ♦ M▲SS † Social Club, and host † BL▲CK M▲SS † SUND▲Y; a weekly event every Sunday at Mac's Bar in Lansing, MI. We are integrating to build a network of autonomous individuals that assist each other to self-release music and collectively expose our respective fan bases to new sounds through internet distribution without relying on established, conventional record labels who have historically profited upon the exploitation of the tireless creative efforts and labor of the artists themselves.
We aim to explore terrifying new vistas of aural experimentation, and multi-media performance. We intend to inspire and entice, shock and engage, compel and enrage. Boredom has struck a population that feels powerless, and uninspired to change under the suffocating weight of an increasingly regimented society. The barometric pressure is rising and we have heard it all before. Something has to give. In these static times, we cut through the airwaves with wildfire, static return. We are dynamic beings and refuse to idly repeat ourselves, expecting different results each time. Simulacrum music is passively rehearsed. We are not passive, nor is our art. Our art is living. We are agitating, and redefining the system. Change is our agenda. The information is transmitted via a pair of scissors. We are cutting up and rearranging culture. Our sizzling, high-pitched feedback stings the ears of the staunch, the overbearing, and the obsolete like molten chrome. We are perpetual motion. Nothing can stop us. Be afraid, because our art is edgey. Our art is vulgar. Our art is obsessive. Our art is starved, and that is why our art is dangerous. We're breaking apart, we're not making sense, we're creating chaos and thriving in it. We are oscillators, creating waves. This is audio sculpture... an assault on the senses of the sensible. Back up... this is our stage and you are standing on it.
